Product descriptions
Description : This stunning and unique lightshade is handcrafted from start to finish using lokta paper on our workshop on the Isle of Anglesey. Industry standard rigid PVC backing is used on a coated frame. The lokta design and effect is created by applying wax to the natural lokta paper and then dried in the shade. Once dry, the paper is hand painted using around the batik pattern- to stunning effect! The light shines though the pattern when lit, and is an attractive paper in its own right when unlit. Lokta is a 100% sustainable resource as it is made from the bark of a plant which grows high in the Himalayas. The root system is not damaged ~ so the plant grows back, and is harvested on a rotational basis. All of our lokta paper is ethically and fair traded with its resulting benefits to the artisans and communities in Nepal. Imbue Lighting is made by the Anglesey Paper Company.
